LIVING SINGLE CONCEPT SERIES: WOO WOO THERAPY
We are liv-inggggggg
(hey-ay-eeeee)...
Idk about y'all but I am really enjoying rewatching the foursome that started ALLLL foursomes, Living Single, with Maxine (Erika Alexander) + Synclaire (Kim Cole) on the Reliving Single Podcast!! So much so I thought, what better time to try a concept series where we see what our favorite roommates might have been up to NOW!
First up is my kindred spirit, Synclaire Jones!! What you didn't know is after her and Obbie moved to LA, she had a lucrative acting career, but realized how much more she loves bringing people together, especially friends, and peace to the world. So she set her acting career to the side (although she still teaches acting part-time at UCLA) to turned a home in the hills into Woo Woo Therapy, a counseling center for friends and roommates!!!
The tricky part of creating these concepts is not only tapping into the minds and styles of these characters as we last left them back in '98, but figuring out how they've developed over time and how this shows in there design styles.
We didn't get much when it came to their individual decorating styles as we mostly lived in their living room, kitchen and hallway, which I assume would likely have been a collective decorating effort. So I drew from her personality bubbly, sweet personality.
With that said, initially I thought of bright, bubbly colors, but then I thought, would that be the colors she would choose now?? That coupled with that fact that this needed to be a calm and peaceful space, led me to try more pastel, muted colors to create sort of a playful yet mature mood. While I'd imagine Synclaire is still bright and bubbly, she's gotten older and experienced more in life, so her space would likely reflect that.
Lastly, when it came to the logo, if you remember, she often wore floral prints and flowers adorned her hats, so the touch of the flowers was important. You'll also notice flowers and plants throughout the space and her office resembles a greenhouse!
Let me know what y'all think? Did I do our favorite cousin justice?? Oh, and and see if you can find the little easter eggs I dropped in!
And in a 90's kinda worlddddd, I'm glad I got my girls....bi bi bi di bi di....haaaaaaaaaa *gracefully walks off
